”BLÆKHUS IS BEAUTIFUL. GREAT COMMON ROOMS AND A GOOD COMMUNAL KITCHEN”

Roger, from Boston in the USA, studies at Copenhagen University because Denmark and the other Scandinavian are front runners when it comes to climate and the environment.

After taking his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies in Philadelphia, Roger and his partner decided to make the move to Denmark.

”I study climate change; Denmark is ahead in this area and so this is why I chose to live and study here. My plan is actually to remain in Denmark after I’ve graduated.”

”We were here for a short holiday a year ago, and immediately fell in love with Copenhagen. We love cycling and tried to cycle in Washington D.C. but it wasn’t so straightforward. Now we cycle around Copenhagen at our own pace. We love it!”

”At Blækhus, I wake with the light over Copenhagen each morning, which is a great feeling. Blækhus is beautiful. Great common rooms and a good communal kitchen. Valby is also cosy with good shops and cafes etc.”

Have you made many friends in Blækhus?

I’ve only lived here for a few months, but I’ve already met a lot of nice people in the communal kitchen.

How do you see your life in 10 years?

Living in Denmark and working in communications for a green company… and cycling around Denmark with a smile.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Pop, techno, electronic and old school disco.

As a Climate Change student, what do you hope for?

My dream is for everyone to have access to solar energy. We should limit how many flights we take and how much meat we eat but, first and foremost, we should put pressure on politicians and others in positions of power to make them think and act ’green’.

Have you got time to read for pleasure when
you’re not studying?

I have just read Big Little Lies and My Husband’s Secrets, both by Liane Moriarty.
